Mohamed Kheir is an Egyptian novelist, poet, and short story writer.
Alongside his literary work and a career in journalism, Kheir also writes lyrics for young singers from Egypt and Lebanon.
His literary work includes both poetry and prose.
As far as poetry is concerned, he has published two collections in colloquial Egyptian Arabic and one in classical Arabic. He won the Egyptian Ministry of Culture Award for his first poetry collection, Leil Khargi (2002);
He published his first short story collection in 2008 ; two of his later collections, Afarit Al Radio (2011) and Remsh Al Ein (2016) received the Sawiris Cultural Award.
He started writing novels in 2013. His second novel, Slipping (Eflat Al Asabea, Kotob Khan Publications, 2018) was the first to be translated into English (Two Lines Press, 2021)
