Mohamed El Baaly founded Sefsafa Publishing in 2009 and has since published more than 200 titles with a focus on literature and politics. El Baaly also launched the Cairo Literature Festival and organised numerous activities that have made Sefsafa one of the most active small cultural entities in Egypt. Sefsafa Publishing has translated over 50 titles (fiction and non-fiction) from 18 languages.
