Tujan is the name of a village in the Tunisian south, where most of the residents are Amazigh. The author takes inspiration from one of the Amazigh legends about a romance between a man and a woman from rival tribes. At first, the story seems similar to Romeo and Juliet, but instead of committing suicide, the protagonist immigrates to Canada, returning twenty years later in search of his lover, and with the hope of ending the feud between their two tribes.
