A collection of seven short stories which presents a unique and distinct storytelling style. It blends documentary with narration to create engaging fictional worlds that move across time periods and places. Abdellatif takes us between Maadi, and Manshiyet El Masry on the streets of downtown Cairo and Stuttgart, in southern Germany. This journey explores the cities’ landmarks and their suburbs, revealing secrets and destinies. The stories in this collection capture the extraordinary through the mundane and marginal aspects of the characters’ lives and everyday situations. Focussing on the visual aspect of narration, the author relies on brief character sketches, emphasising the significant narrative moments, using a refined, and sometimes neutral, descriptive language and references non-fictional elements.
