The Abdel Karim Mirghani Cultural Centre was established in 1998 in the city of Omdurman, west of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The centre has a large library, organises various cultural events and regularly participates in the Khartoum International Book Fair. In addition to printing award-winning novels and short stories, the centre publishes books on culture, knowledge, and history.

Each year in October it organises the Al-Tayeb Salih Prize for the best novel of the year, followed by a scientific conference on the novel.
