Founded by Hosni Sulayman, Dar Sharqiyat published high quality literature and literary criticism beginning in 1991 with 20-30 titles per year. Dar Sharqiyat published many of the Egyptian avant-garde generation of the 1990s, as well as a number of French authors in translation by partnering with the French Institute.
